Celebrating April, National Poetry Month

In celebration of National Poetry Month (USA) zakti will be posting classic writings and poetry on tea.

The Way of Tea, or the chanoyu, is a small gathering where the host lays fresh charcoal to boil water, serves a meal, then prepares powdered tea whisked with hot water. The entire process takes about four hours and is highly formal. In the form of Sen Rikyū (1522 - 1591), who brought the art of chanoyu to its culmination, chanoys is "just heat water, prepare tea, and drink."

"Practice involves
beginning to learn from one
and coming to know ten,
then returning from ten,
to the original one."

Sen Rikyū
